Welcoming Alika!

Greetings, reader! We’re sure you’ve seen this name on our blog posts lately, so it makes sense to (finally) introduce you to our newest team member, myself: Alika Salsabila.

I’m Acorn’s resident cat enthusiast hailing from Indonesia. I have a penchant for enemies-to-lovers fantasy novels and a knack for writing, community management, and delivering some delightfully awful jokes. Taking over the reins as the blogger here at Acorn Games, I couldn’t be happier and in this update, I’ll spill the beans on my gaming adventures and the secret of how I discovered Acorn.

Alika’s Gaming Odyssey

Coincidentally, my upbringing is quite similar to Mayang’s. The OG gamer in my family is my father, and he passed it on to me in my early days. Once during middle school, I watched him play Assassin’s Creed 2, and my journey began from there.

It became my daily activity after school to play Assassin’s Creed 2. After that, my parents noticed my passion for gaming and gifted me a PlayStation 2. I explored and played many titles and genres there, from Harvest Moon to Guitar Hero. My current preferred platform is the PC, and I have been playing games daily ever since, with RPG as my favorite genre.

Adventures in The Gaming Industry

Since my initial introduction into games, I have always been interested in working within the gaming industry, particularly as a Community Manager. The inspiring Rebb Ford from Warframe pushed me to pursue this role, thus I applied for an internship at Agate International in 2020 and worked with the Code Atma and Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2 team until early 2023.

Why Community Management, you ask? For me, it's a simple answer: I love helping people. Having experienced the frustration of unhelpful support in the past, I'm on a mission to be the support that gamers deserve. I've got a passion for writing, too! With language and storytelling ranking high on my list of interests, I now don the hat of Acorn’s resident blog writer and hopefully in the future, a novelist!

It’s safe to say that my journey has just begun, and there are still so many things to learn. Hopefully, with the help of George and the team at Acorn, I can gain more valuable knowledge about the game industry that can also be shared with you, one blog at a time.
