Mystery meets history in Casebook 1899 – The Leipzig Murders, the latest game supported by Acorn Games.
I first met solo developer Gregor of Homo Narrans Studio a few years ago while working on community development and marketing strategy on behalf of similar point-and-click titles such as The Longing, Lord Winklebottom Investigates, and LUNA: The Shadow Dust. We bonded over our shared love for the genre. His passion for detective games — and for his home city of Leipzig — was immediately apparent. We reconnected a few years later at one of my favourite events, London’s Adventure X, where we discussed plans for Casebook 1899 and the final stages of development.
Flash forward to 2025, and Casebook 1899 is nearly ready for release. Together with Adelaide-based team The IndieEXP, we’re buddying-up to give the game its strongest possible launch through a focused PR and social media campaign.
Casebook 1899 – The Leipzig Murders is a richly atmospheric, retro-inspired point-and-click adventure that immerses players in a rarely explored chapter of European history. Set in Leipzig, Germany at the dawn of the 20th century, the game invites players to step into the role of Detective Joseph Kreiser as he investigates a string of mysterious murders across the city.
As Kreiser, you’ll examine clues, interrogate suspects, and piece together evidence in a classic point-and-click format enhanced with thoughtful design.
